Accessory Trends from Paris Fashion Week Fall 2012

Fall styles are fast approaching as Paris fashion week has come and gone.  The couture lines previewed items that will be available for fall, equipped with an array of fresh accessories.

Armani

The Armani Prive Fall 2012 Couture Collection is one for the books, especially when looking at accessories.  Clothing consisted of black, rose, lavender, powder blue and indigo pieces, and the accessories directly coordinated.  There were many crocodile skin clutches in plain colors and ombre, as well as crocodile skin t-strap heels and flats.  Models wore beautiful dark gemstone earrings along with the highlight accessory, the transparent beaded head veils that perfectly accompanied the garments.

Jean Paul Gaultier

Gaultier’s dark presentation sent male and female product down the runway in a mix of flapper-esque and futuristic evening wear.  Gaultier presented accessories that we will keep an eye on for fall, like the chic hairnet headpieces that took us back to the 1920’s.  Gaultier also tied in satin top hats, bondage looking platforms and choker necklaces.

Christian Dior

Raf Simon’s debut as creative director of Dior went smoothly in Paris as he displayed a lovely collection on the runway.  With simple ladylike silhouettes true of Dior style, Simon’s kept the accessories simple as well.  Each model walked in an elegant pair of pointed-toe heels.  Plainly decorated chokers, bangles and cocktail rings were also seen in this show.

Atelier Versace

The opening to Paris Fashion Week this season was the return of Donatella Versace to the Atelier Versace line at the Ritz Paris.  Her successful comeback played up the known Versace look, which WWD perfectly describes as “glamour gone flamboyant.” The evening wear stayed within a pastel palette, each worn with a calf length high heel.  Models also walked with beautiful cocktail rings matching the garments.

Chanel

Lagerfeld put out classic Chanel looks in the latest couture show with tweed skirt suits and faint coloring.  Yet, the accessories surprised us with a fun twist on the classics.  Many garments were paired with matching clutches with the standard chain link strap, complete with beautiful statement pearl cocktail rings. The identifiable two-tone shoe was complete this season with a metal toe and heel.  The most shocking accessory at Chanel was the embellished hair net, reminiscent of the 15th century.
