AC Members at the Golden Globes: Round 2

Yesterday we reported on some of the Accessories Council members that were represented at the Golden Globes on Sunday. Well, we’ve found some more!

Judith Leiber, always a celeb favorite, was carried by a few different actresses on the red carpet. Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland toted a Judith Leiber clutch to InStyle Magazine’s Golden Globes After Party.

Also no stranger to the award show circuit, Lorraine Schwartz Jewelry is a celebrity go-to when accessorizing red carpet looks. Lorraine Schwartz earrings are worn here by Megan Fox. Lorraine Schwartz Jewelry is available for purchase at Bergdorf Goodman.

Nikki Reed, one of the Twilight Saga’s breakout stars, carried a Swarovski clutch at the InStyle Golden Globes After Party. The crystal-mesh clutch gave the star’s simple Jenni Kayne column gown the sparkle it needed.

Golden Globes Fashion Round-Up

This year the fashion at The Golden Globes was off the charts! Celebs didn’t shy away from some of 2013′s biggest trends: sheer, lace, pastels, black and white. But more than anything, we are proud to say that many members of the Accessories Council had pieces worn on the red carpet!

Last night, Anna Gunn (you may recognize her as Skyler from AMC’s Breaking Bad) wore a pair of AC member, Irene Neuwirth’s beautiful drop earrings. The earrings complimented Gunn’s tropical sherbet-pink column gown; we love her choice to wear only earrings with her dress given the intricate neckline.

Alyssa Milano toted a clutch by AC member Thalé Blanc on the red carpet. Milano’s clutch is from Thalé Blanc’s Royale Safari collection, and is available for purchase on their website.

Also carrying a handbag by an Accessories Council member, actress Carla Gugino complimented her Rami Al Ali gown with Swarovski‘s Nirvana Star clutch. The gunmetal snakeskin purse worked beautifully with the star’s stunning crystal-embellished gown.

At the Accessories Council, we always keep our fingers crossed for daring nominee fashions. Amy Adams, who was nominated for her work in The Master, certainly delivered in a gorgeous, nude lace Marchesa gown.  Marchesa, another AC member, designed the fishtail-style gown custom for Adams. Adams styled her look with a retro up-do and minimal jewelry. Definitely one of our picks for best-dressed!

Trend Report: Spring 2013 Bags

Over the past few seasons the desire for minimalist accessories has been growing, and for Spring 2013 designers have met the demand in full force. For Fall/Winter 2012 designers took a stab at black and white (or oxblood) bags, but Spring/Summer 2013 promises beautifully bright and pastel bags, just minimalist enough to keep your look on-trend.

This beauty, by Accessories Council member Nancy Gonzalez, epitomizes the Spring 2013 bag trends: pastel, minimal, texture, exotic skins. What more could a girl want? Nancy Gonzalez bags are available for purchase at Bergdorf Goodman.

Trend Report: Spring 2013 Shoes

The September runways featured quite the selection of footwear this season. It seems like all anyone has been able to talk about in the after-glow of Alexander Wang’s black light stylings are the furry fashions at Céline, but one thing remained constant for Spring 2013: the ankle strap is here to stay.

With the steady disappearance of the platform in recent seasons, we’ve seen our favorite heels transform from their clunky predecessors into a sleek stiletto. Now, as frightening as a skinny heel may be, the ankle strap is here to help you stand tall!

Valentino Shoe

Accessories Council member Valentino utilized the ankle strap in their footwear, balancing the dainty heels of some of their Spring 2013 designs. The tiny studs on the heel of these pumps are in keeping not only with the noteworthy stud trend, but also with Valentino’s popular ‘Rockstud’ designs. If you haven’t seen the Rockstud collection, check it out at

Gianvito Rossi

These stunners, by up-and-coming Italian designer Gianvito Rossi, highlight some of Spring 2013′s mega-trends: black and white, single-sole, ankle straps, minimalism. Featuring a wedge instead of a heel, who wouldn’t want to claim a pair as their own?

Social Media in Accessory Design

Social media has become an omnipresent part of modern life, with everyone from the President of the United States to the Accessories Council (fair comparison, we know) using Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and the like. Over the past few seasons, social media influences have trickled down into fashion design (see Christopher Kane and 3.1 Philip Lim, for example), but it was not until recently that the accessories world, too, answered the call.

In the past year social media inspired designs have popped up throughout the accessories industry via designers like Alison Lou and Accessories Council member BaubleBar. Alison Lou jewels artfully combine fine jewelry with emoticon-based inspiration. The designer’s pieces are a playful way to poke fun at the world’s growing dependence on technology and social media. Alison Lou jewels are available for purchase at FiveStory.

Like the settings of the social media world, both BaubleBar’s and Alison Lou’s jewelry is customizable, though BaubleBar’s designs have made the result far more personal. Online jewelry retailer BaubleBar is offering ‘Twitter-Plate’ necklaces. Much like Carrie Bradshaw’s famous ‘Carrie’ necklace, the Twitter-Plate design also features personal identification of sorts, but instead of your name it has your Twitter handle. BaubleBar’s adorable Twitter-Plate necklaces are available in a variety of materials. Order on their website!
